Kathleen Sharp Obituary

Kathleen A. Sharp CANAAN - Kathleen A. Sharp of Canaan, NY, died May 12, 2013 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY. Born in 1946 to Louis and Irene (Macdonald) Boucher, Kathy grew up in Rossman, Columbia County and attended the “four-room” Rossman School there. She graduated from Ichabod Crane Central school in 1964. Predeceased by both parents, she is survived by her husband of 47 years, Lee Sharp, her daughter Meghan Sharp, and granddaughter, Emily Pulver, as well as several cousins and nieces. With a life-long passion for learning, Kathy studied at Hudson Valley Community College, Michigan State University, SUNY New Paltz, and Empire State College. As a radiologic technologist and physician assistant, she worked in several area hospitals and private practices, taught at Hudson Valley Community College and served as a volunteer with the Valatie Rescue Squad. In retirement, Kathy's youthful interest in arts and crafts was rekindled. She particularly enjoyed spinning, weaving and - under the guidance of friend and mentor Ulrike Grannis - paper art and book making. Calling hours will be from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home in Valatie, New York. A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Valatie. Kathy's family is profoundly grateful for the support of the staff and volunteers of the Columbia-Greene Community Hospice, and the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's. Friends are encouraged to donate to their local hospice organizations.

Lee, we are so sorry to hear of Kathy's passing. We always knew that summer had really started when we saw her walking her little dog near the pond and we all stopped to catch up on the winter's news. You were the first to welcome us there and now you are in our thoughts as we move on from Canaan.

I worked with Kathy years ago in ER at BMC, how sad to hear of her passing. She was a passionate and interesting woman, always enjoyed chatting politics with her and she was so proud of her daughter, also a PA. Will donate to hospice locally in her honor. Barb Morrison, PA

Dear Lee, Meghan and Emily,
I send you my heartfelt condolences at the loss of your beloved Kathy- wife of 47 years, mother and grandmother. She was a dear and steady friend to me over the years since we met at my Art School Collage Class studio! Her generous spirit inspired me throughout our friendship. She was a wonderful collaborator and creative spark whenever we joined forces for the making of projects! Kathy will live on with me in so many ways- through the artwork and hand made books that she has given me & through the many donations she offered to me to pass along to all of my art students. This I am sure would make her very happy. With Love and Sympathy from Karen Arp-Sandel
