Martha I. Legnard GREEN ISLAND – Martha I. Legnard, 88, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Community Hospice at Samaritan Hospital in Troy after a long illness. A native and lifelong resident of Green Island, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Irene Clark Legnard. Martha had been employed by the D&H Railroad for many years. She was a lifelong communicant of the former St. Joseph's Church in Green Island and had been a member of the Altar-Rosary Society. Martha had also been a member of the Green Island Senior Citizens where she and her sister Dorothy enjoyed daily lunches and visiting with their friends. She had also been an active member of the Green Island Democratic Association. She is survived by her devoted and loving sister, Dorothy Legnard, and many cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at the McNulty Funeral Home, 147 Hudson Avenue, Green Island on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with Father Donald Kelly officiating. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Cohoes. Calling hours will be on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Martha and her sister Dorothy entered the Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center in December of 2011, where they received loving, compassionate and dignified care by the administration and staff.
