Mary Grobecker Obituary
Mary E. Lamb Grobecker WATERVLIET – Mary E. Lamb Grobecker, 89, formerly of the Port Schuyler section of Watervliet, died peacefully Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Care Center in Delmar. Her final days were spent with many members of her family by her bedside. Born in Brooklyn she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Crossley Lamb. Mary was educated in Watervliet and during World War II, she was employed at the Watervliet Arsenal. Mary devoted her life to loving and nurturing her eight children and her late husband Robert. She was involved in the Cub Scouts and Brownies with her children while they were growing up. Her total commitment to her family has allowed them to achieve many milestones within their lives. She was a communicant of the former St. Brigid's Church in Watervliet and was a member of the Rosary Society. She enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family. She was the wife of the late Robert J. Grobecker who died in 1989, loving mother of Peter J. (Elisa) Grobecker of Delmar, Kathryn M. (Gerard) Britton of Watervliet, Richard J. (Patricia) Grobecker of Salem, NH, Dr. Betsey Grobecker of Albany, Lynn A. Grobecker ofSpringville, Mary Ann (Michael) Almindo of Albany, Andrew J. (Linda) Grobecker of Hoosick Falls and the late Robert J. Grobecker, Jr. who died in 2011, sister of the late Andrew, Joseph, William, John and James Lamb and Brother Andrew Robert. Mary is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her funeral mass will be Friday at 11:30 am at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 25th Street & 7th Avenue, Watervliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Friday prior to the mass from from 10:15-11:15 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205. The family would like to thank the staff of the Good Samaritan Lutheran Home and Community Hospice of Albany for the kind and comforting care given to our mother.
