Ralph J. Colangione Obituary
Ralph J. Colangione BRUNSWICK – Ralph John Colangione, 93, WWII Bronze Star holder, husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather, died Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy with his family at his side. Born in Troy on May 5, 1920, he was the son of the late Raphael and Gaetana Marbella Colangione. He was a graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and received two Bronze Stars. Family and friends were the center of Ralph's life. Ralph grew up in Troy during the depression and he never forgot the value of family and working hard for family. He was employed for over 60 years by the Behr-Manning Co. now Saint Gobain in Watervliet as a maintenance supervisor before retiring at the age of 86. The company holds multiple patents for his designs. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a life member of the Tibbits Cadets. He loved basketball which he played and coached and was a boxer while in the US Army. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 68 years, Rose Mary Manilla Colangione. He is the beloved father of Ralph L. (Barbara) Colangione of Troy, Lucia (Alex) Colangione of St. Louis, MO, Rocco (Christine) Colangione of Troy, Vincent (Kim) Colangione of Tennessee, Anthony Colangione of Troy, Mary (Richard) Neisen of Johnsonville, Anna Marie Colangione of Troy and the late Gaetana (Paul) Wasula of Troy, brother of the late Alphonse “Bob” (Vicky) Colangione, Louis (Bea) Colangione, Harry (Mary) Colangione, Josephine “Joan” (William) Joyce, Julia (Mike) Mastrogicomo and Cathy Colangione. Also survived by 24 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Thursday at 9:15 am from the Doran Funeral Home, 9 South Lake Avenue, Troy and at 10 am at Our Lady of Victory Church, Troy. Interment will follow at 12 noon in the Saratoga National Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7 pm.
