Walter Rehder

REHDER, WALTER SCHAGHTICOKE - Walter H. Rehder, 84, of Pleasant Avenue, husband for over 55 years to Ann Columbe Rehder of Schaghticoke, entered into eternal life on Thursday, January 20, 2011. Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Peter and Katarina Pluschau Rehder. Walter earned both his A.B and M.S from SUNYA. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater, American Theater and Victory Medals. He retired from Shenendehowa Central School District in Clifton Park where he had been a guidance counselor and had previously been a public school teacher and guidance counselor in both the Hoosick Valley and Stillwater Central School Districts. Walter was Ordained as a Deacon on October 4, 1986 for the Diocese of Albany and was assigned to St. John the Baptist Church (later to become Church of the Holy Trinity and presently Transfiguration Parish) in Schaghticoke for Liturgy and Service. Husband of Ann, father of Peter Rehder (Roseanne) of Cary, NC, Jean Rehder Francois of Troy and Kate Rehder Lozier of East Greenbush, grandfather of Danielle Francois, Anna, Peter and Julia Rehder and Aaron and Jared Lozier and brother-in-law to Arthur Columbe and Jean Columbe Wood. Reception of the body will take place on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Transfiguration Parish, 17 S. Main St. (RT-40) in Schaghticoke. Calling hours will be held in Church on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Evening Prayer Vigil will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Most Reverend Howard J. Hubbard, Bishop of Albany on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in Church followed by a reception in the Church hall. Burial at the convenience of the family this spring in St. John's Cemetery, Schaghticoke.
