Obituary Condolences

L. Margaret (Brenz) Hathaway, 76, entered into eternal peace on March 28, 2014, after a brief illness. She was the youngest child of the late Frederick and Dorothea Brenz.
Peggy, as she preferred to be called, was born in Waterford and educated in the Waterford school system. After graduating from Waterford High School, Peggy was employed by the former NY Telephone Co. until her retirement. Her favorite retirement activities were traveling, "road trips" to the Racino and rooting for the New York Yankees, especially Derek Jeter, Andy Pettite and Mariano Rivera. She was most definitely Derek Jeter's Number 1 fan.
Peggy was predeceased by her husband, James Hathaway, and by her siblings Dorothea Brenz, Mary (Brenz) Rocque, Frederick "Cap" Brenz, George "Popeye" Brenz, Francis "Carey" Brenz, Gerald "Hawk" Brenz, Patricia (Brenz) Gilbert, and John "Jack" Brenz. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Provy Brenz of Wisconsin and Martha Brenz of Texas as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews. Peggy is also survived by her "posse" of devoted friends Joan Murphy, Joan Hognestad, Lucille Sicko and Ginny Steininger.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte. 32), Waterford. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Rensselaer, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144.
