Robert Stephen Andrejko LATHAM - It is with sadness that I write of the death of my husband, a loving father and grandfather, Robert (Bob) Stephen Andrejko. Born in Johnson City, NY, he was the son of the late Stephen and Helen Bednar Andrejko. He was a graduate of Binghamton Central High School and the class of 1960 at RPI. He was member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, RPI’s baseball team manager, and an ROTC Air Force graduate. After school, he was stationed in England as an USAF Captain. His overseas duty fostered a love for all foreign cultures. After leaving the Air Force, Bob worked for IBM in Marketing for 35 years in the Albany and Charlotte areas. Bob strongly felt he was one of the most blessed people in world, being healthy for 74 years. Bob also felt he found a wonderful wife, Joan, who turned out to be a fantastic mother and partner. He shared many joyous years with Joan, with whom he had mutual priorities of religion, family, travel, theater and sports. He is survived by the love of his life, Joan, his son Robert Anthony (Pam) and daughter Tracey (Bob) Flaherty. His great pride was his grandchildren, Kelly, Matthew, Elizabeth, Kristin, and Rebecca. Bob is also survived by his brother Donald (Joyce) and sister-in-law Doris (John) Karafunda and several nieces and nephews. Bob was a dedicated volunteer for the Cohoes Music Hall, Capital Repertory Theater, and Tulip Festival. Bob was also an officer and manager of the Troy Youth Hockey Association and Latham Little League and cherished his time watching productions of Ballet North. Volleyball was one of his favorite activities where he met fantastic friends who never forgot him after he stopped playing a year ago. Bob had many wonderful people that we would like to thank for caring for him: Dr Dunn, Dr Mijoric-Das, Dr Haqqie, Albany Memorial Dialysis, NYOH Latham, Hudson Park Rehabilitation, Michael Schaffer, and the Albany Medical Center staff. We would also like to thank our family and dear friends who gave our family their support throughout his illness. Bob lived a life to observe the “The Prayer of St Francis” and prayed daily to St Anthony. A Funeral Service will be held at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home Ltd, 105 Vliet Blvd, Cohoes, NY Thursday morning at 11:00 with Very Reverend Vladimir Marusceac officiating. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5:00-8:00pm. A Panakhyda Service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday evening at 5 o’clock. Interment will be in Sts. Peter & Paul’s Ukrainian Cemetery in Waterford, NY. A celebration of his life will be held for family and friends at the Van Schaick Country Club in Cohoes following his burial.
