Elwood Miller Middlebury, VT/ Clifton Park, NY - Elwood Miller, 95, of Middlebury, VT formerly of Clifton Park, NY died on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at his residence. He was born on March 9, 1919 in Brunswick, NY and was the son of the late Oscar and Lottie Link Miller. He was a 1938 graduate of Troy High School. Elwood served in the United States Marine Corps from 1943 until 1946. He retired from General Electric in Schenectady in 1981 after working for over 39 years as a Machinist at the Steam Turbine Division. Elwood was a long time member of the Shenendehowa United Methodist Church, but had also been very involved at the Pawling Avenue Methodist Church in Troy prior to moving to Clifton Park in the late 1960s. He was a dedicated member of the Halfmoon American Legion Mohawk Post #1450. In his retirement, he was an avid golfer and skier, and was an active member of the Coburg Village retirement community in Rexford for thirteen years. Elwood was the loving husband of the late Florence Carlson Miller, who predeceased him in 1998. He was the devoted father of Richard (Linnea Carl) Miller of Altamont, Janice (David) Sibley of Leesburg, VA and Diane Mincher of Middlebury, VT., brother of Irvin (Jessie) Miller of Troy; grandfather of four: Jennifer and Taryn (Dean Plionis) Sibley, Stacie and Amy Mincher. He also leaves behind two great-grandsons, Liam and Jamie Plionis. Elwood was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Miller. Funeral will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065. Calling hours will be from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Internment will follow at Memory Gardens in Albany.
