Eleanor P. Curtis TROY - Eleanor P. Curtis, 77, of Troy, passed away peacefully July 10, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospice in Troy with her close family by her side. Born in Malone, New York, she was the daughter of late Alonzo Mitchell and Lena Bashaw-Mitchell and married to the late Airman First Class, Frank W. Curtis Sr of Troy. Eleanor is survived by her daughter Mary Baechle and her sons Frank Curtis Jr & Kevin Curtis. She is also survived by her siblings Betty Russell, Phyllis and Fred Mitchell. She was predeceased by her siblings Charlie Mitchell, Bob Mitchell, Vera DesCamps, Theresa Ojida, Jean Mulverhill, Donald (Joe) Mitchell & Douglas Mitchell. Eleanor was also a beloved grandmother to her four grandchildren, Melissa and Robert Baechle, Sarah and Madeline Curtis and her great grandson Alex. Eleanor retired from the Rensselaer County Department of Aging as a van dispatch coordinator. She adored her family, friends, bingo, casino gambling and embraced life with a sense of love and compassion for everyone who came in hers. Eleanor wanted to give a warm special thank you to her sister-in-law, Patricia Curtis. Patricia’s everlasting love and friendship of over 50 years gave strength to Ellie in her times of need and compassion during her illness, while holding her hand to the very end. The funeral service for Eleanor will be held on Monday morning at 11 am at The Wm. Leahy Funeral Home 336 Third Street Troy NY ,with Deacon Charles Wojton of St. Anthony’s Church in Troy officiating . Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2- 6PM. Interment will be held at Saratoga National cemetery 200 Duell Road Schuylerville NY. Instead of flowers, the family of Eleanor would request you make donations to The Community Hospice Foundation, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, New York, 12144.
