Obituary Condolences

Carmela C. Spataro TROY – Miss Carmela C. Spataro, 81, entered into eternal life on July 17, 2014. Born in Watervliet, N.Y. on July 10, 1933, Carmela was the daughter of the late Carmelo and Mary Concetta Casile Spataro. She was raised and educated in Watervliet and Troy and was a member of the graduating class of 1951 of Catholic Central High School. Carmela was also a graduate of St. Peter’s Hospital School of Nursing in Albany and was employed by St. Peter’s Hospital as a registered nurse. She worked briefly for Pioneer Savings Bank. Although Carmela enjoyed a career helping and caring for others, her primary focus and love in life was her family. She was a communicant of the former St. Paul the Apostle Church in Troy. Carmela is the loving and cherished sister of Dr. Frank (Catherine) Spataro, Sr. of Troy, Richard (Jacqueline) Spataro of Malone, NY, the late Anthony Spataro whose wife Louise of Niskayuna survives. She was pre-deceased by a sister Rosina who died in childhood. She is the devoted aunt to 13 surviving nieces and nephews, 17 grandnieces and grandnephews, and several great grandnieces and great grandnephews. She was pre-deceased by her nephew Paul A. Spataro. Carmela’s family would like to thank the staff at Hudson Park Nursing and Rehab Center and the hospice volunteers who helped make her final hours as peaceful as possible. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Carmela’s funeral Mass, which will be celebrated on Monday, July 21, at 9:30 AM in Our Lady of Victory Church, 55 North Lake Avenue, Troy, NY by the Reverend Randall P. Patterson, pastor. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY. There will be no public calling hours. Contributions, in Carmela’s memory, may be made to Community Hospice of Albany County, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
