Sharon M. Coultry Grafton - Sharon M. (Gapp) Coultry, 78, a longtime resident of Grafton, died peacefully, Friday, July 25, 2014 at the Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home where she has been a resident since September 9, 2011, following a short illness. Born in Troy, December 4, 1935, Mrs. Coultry was the daughter of the late Philip and Marion (Foley) Gapp-Lamphere and the wife of the late John Coultry and the former wife of the late Charles A Hewitt. Mrs. Coultry was a graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy, Class of 1953. For over 20 years she was employed as a secretary for the NYS Department of Education in Albany and retired in 1994. Mrs. Coultry was a communicant, choir member, and member and past president of the Altar Rosary Society of the former St. John Francis Regis R.C. Church recently renamed Our Lady of The Snow Church in Grafton. Throughout her adult life she enjoyed traveling and camping. Mrs. Coultry is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charley A. and Cathy Hewitt of Cropseyville, two daughters and sons-in-law, Aimee and Paul Pelton of Troy and Lisa and Edgar “Butch” Jones of Brunswick, a brother, John “Jack” (Janice) Gapp of Brunswick, a sister, Madonna (Ace) Kreiger of Virginia, six grandchildren, Chris Hewitt and Chad Hewitt of Grafton, Devin Pelton and Jonathan Beaudry, of Brunswick, and Thomas (Heather) Giuliano of Plattsburgh and Anthony Giuliano of Ballston Spa, a great-grandson, Tyler Giuliano of Plattsburgh and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and late husband, she was predeceased by a son, the late Christopher Hewitt and a sister, the late Delores Crandall. A Mass of Christian Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, July 28, 2014, at 10:00 A.M. by Fr. Gregory at Our Lady of the Snow Church in Grafton. Burial will follow in Eagle Mills Cemetery in Brunswick. At Sharon’s request there will be no calling. Memorial contributions if desired may be made to Our Lady of the Snow Church, 31 Owens Road, Grafton, NY 12082 in memory of Sharon M. Coultry. The family would like to extend their most heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Sharon’s nieces and nephews Mary, Madonna, Amanda, Erica, Pete, Roger and neighbor, Josh, for assisting in Sharon’s care when she was at home and to the Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing staff on Unit B-1 for their support and care of Sharon during her stay there.
