CAPANO, LOUIS WYNANTSKILL - Louis Capano, 77, of Wynantskill died January 8, 2011 peacefully at home. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Louis and Mary Capano and husband for 49 years of Carol Dayton Capano. Lou was educated in Troy schools and was a Veteran of the U.S. Airforce. He had been employed at Behr-Manning; in his own business, Z and C Painting Contractors; Wise Potato Chip Distributors; and at Emma Willard School where he also served as a volunteer track coach. He also loved coaching youth track in the area, fishing, hunting and being a volunteer fireman. He loved the Yankees and Giants and he excelled at sports, winning many medals in national, state and local senior track and field competitions and was a member of the Colonie Senior Basketball League. Lou was a good man. He is also survived by his son, Mark C. Capano; his daughter, Catherine McCraw; four grandchildren, Laura Capano, E.J. Dennis, Jason M. Capano, and Alicia M. Capano; several great grandchildren; a sister, Ann (John) McGrath; and several nieces and nephews. Lou was predeceased by two sons, Louis and Larry Capano and by his brother, James Capano. The family wishes to thank Community Hospice for their extraordinary care and for the love and support of our many friends. The funeral will be on Thursday at 10:30am from the Daniel D. Purcell Funeral Home, 510 Pawling Ave. at Parkview Court, Troy and at 11:30am at St. Jude the Apostle Church, Wynantskill where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 to 8pm.
