DWYER, FRANCIS GREEN ISLAND - Francis J. Dwyer, 86, died on Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Albany County Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Green Island, he was the son of the late Francis M Dwyer, who served as Mayor of the Village of Green Island from 1944 until his death in 1952 and the late Margaret Leonard Dwyer. Francis had been employed by the D & H Railroad for several years before going to work at the former Ford Motor Company in Green Island, retiring in the 1980's. Frank was a lifelong communicant of the former St. Joseph's Church in Green Island until its closing in 2010 and was presently a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish. Survivors include several cousins and dear friends. Funeral from the McNulty Funeral Home, 147 Hudson Avenue, Green Island on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. thence to St. Patrick's Church in Watervliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be beside his mother in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Colonie.
