Obituary Condolences

McGRATH, PAULA JOHNSONVILLE - Paula A. McGrath, 52, of Pine Lake Way, died suddenly, Monday, May 16, 2011, at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy with her best friend by her side, after being stricken at her home. Born in Troy, August 21, 1958, Paula was the daughter of A. Joseph McGrath of Florida and the late Maryann (Cuerdon) McGrath and for over sixteen years the devoted companion and best friend of Richard "Rick" Skiff of Johnsonville who survives. Paula attended St. Patrick's School in Troy and was a graduate of Troy High School. At the time of her death on Monday, she had been employed for over thirty-three years as a clerk by the State of New York and worked at the Bureau of Taxation and Finance in Albany. A quiet person who liked to solve crossword puzzles, Paula enjoyed spending time with her friends at her Pine Lake camp, working in her vegetable garden and loved her dog and cats. In addition to her father and companion, Rick, Paula is survived by two brothers and a sister, Patrick J. McGrath of Albuquerque, NM, Sharon M. Stevens of Lansingburgh and Peter J. McGrath of Troy, a paternal aunt, Mary McGrath of Colonie and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her mother, a sister, Margaret A. "Peggy" (Watson) McGrath and an aunt, Adelaide "Adie" Mallett, predeceased Paula. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at 10:00 A.M., at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2237 New York Route 7, located in Raymertown, with Rev. Gaylord Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Schaghticoke. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday, May 20th from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Memorial contributions if desired, at the request of Paula's family, may be made to the Johnsonville Ambulance Service, 4 River Road, Johnsonville, NY 12094 in memory of Paula A. McGrath.
