Esther Frances Hansen
SNYDERS LAKE - Esther Frances Hansen, 82, died peacefully early Friday morning, February 10, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy with her family at her side.
Born in Mechanicville on September 12, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Esther Quackenbush Farrell. Mrs. Hansen was raised at Saratoga Lake and worked from the age of 16 until she retired in 1977. She was employed by a paper mill, a box factory and Barclay Home Products in Cohoes. She also did babysitting until she finally retired. She resided in Snyders Lake for 44 years.
She enjoyed bowling, doing word searches, watching her soap operas, spending time with her family and loved being able to help people.
She was the wife of the late John A. Hansen who died in 1996; beloved mother of Donna Hansen (Frank) DuBrey of Knoxville, Tenn. and William A. (Lillian) Hansen-Miles of Speigletown; sister of the late Lawrence Farrell, Catherine Gibson and Edna Major; grandmother of Paul John, Lisa, David, William, Gary, Roxanne, Dali, William, Jessie and Amy Frances. She is also survived by 17 great- grandchildren, one great great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet with Rev. Robert Peters officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, Colonie. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
