James T. Hynes Obituary
James T. Hynes TROY - James T. Hynes 83 of Troy passed into eternal life on Thursday evening at The Van Rensselaer Manor surrounded by his lovingly family. Jim was born in Troy and was the son of the late Frank and Catherine Rapp Hynes and loving and devoted husband of Betty Pakush Hynes of Troy. Jim served his country in the US Army as a MP and when he returned to Troy he began his career as a Troy Policeman and served the Troy community for 36 years before retiring in 1989. .Jim received the Troy PBA Silver Shield Award , which he was very proud of , he was a past president of the Troy Police PBA . Jim was well respected in the Troy community as being a very fair and honest man. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Troy and was a member of the Holy Names society as well as an usher at the church .Jim was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys football team. After Jim became a resident of the Van Rensselaer manor he was elected VP and then became the acting president of the Resident Council .He was a former member of the Troy Elks. Jim was a fixture for a long time at The Wm. Leahy Funeral home where he spent his time driving, being a door attendant and was truly a valuable part of the firm. In addition to his wife Betty , Jim is also survived by his children Kevin ( Kim )Hynes ,Patricia ( Lee) Hess and Kimberly Young. He was the very proud grandfather of Kari Hynes. Jim is survived by his two sisters Margaret Stebbins and Carol Hynes of Troy and was pre-deceased by his brother Frank Hynes. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and many friends. The funeral service for Jim will be held on Monday morning at 8:45 am at The Wm. Leahy Funeral Home 336 Third St. Troy and at 9:30 am at St. Joseph's Church where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the funeral home Sunday from 3-7PM. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery Troy Jim's Family would like to especially thank the staff of Unit C 3 at the Van Rensselaer Manor for their wonderful care and kindness shown to Jim In lieu of flowers contributions in Jim's memory may be made to either St. Joseph's Church restoration fund or the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society and would be appreciated
