TROY - Tessie (Terry) A. Guba Campana, 75, of Eighth Street in Troy, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy, embraced by her loving family.
Born in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Anna Kopcha Guba Sr. and the beloved wife of Robert J. Campana for 51 years.
Tessie lived most of her life in Brunswick and Troy. She graduated as salutatorian in 1954 from Cohoes High School.
From 1977 to 1981, she owned and operated Copeland-Campana Travel Agency. After selling the business, she continued to work in travel for other companies, as well as teaching in the industry.
In 1995 she started working at Wal-Mart in Brunswick. Terry truly enjoyed her job there for it allowed her to continue working and catch up with old friends who would come in and out of the store.
Tessie was extremely active in her church, St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Cohoes. Over the years, not only was she president of the board, but her true passion, choir director. There wasn't a high soprano note Tessie couldn't hit without hesitation.
She was also very active in the Brunswick Elks Lodge No. 2556, where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was always willing to help out with any event or function the Elks had or even just spending time with the other ladies of the Auxiliary, who, over the years, have become her closest friends.
Terry loved to travel. Over the years she traveled to many destinations with close friends Ed and Delores Long, Ed and Pat Burke, Bob and Joan Ives and Tim and Pat Corcoran. In the winters, she traveled to Florida to spend time with Paul and Jan Maier and Dick and Ann Monell.
Terry adored her grandchildren. She loved her many conversations with them, watching Nicholas play baseball, helping Kylie with the piano or traveling to Connecticut to watch Curtis play his sports.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her loving children and their spouses, Joseph J. Campana and Erin O'Niell of Clifton Park and Cynthia and Michael Dion of Seymour, Conn.; adored grandchildren, Sonia Lynn Dion, Nicholas Campana, Curtis Dion and Kylie Campana; nieces and nephews, Greg, Peter, Tricia and Chris Guba and Lisa Robert; and several great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Harry, John Jr. and Walter Guba; and her nephews, John and Curtis Guba.
