ALBANY - James Wright, 87, of Albany entered into eternal life on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Atria Shaker in Albany.
Born May 27, 1925 in Richmond, VA, he was the son of the late George E. and Sallie Smith Wright, and the beloved husband of 54 years to the late Helena Mitter and 9 years to the late Sally Delamater.
Mr. Wright resided in the Capital District area since 1946. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy after serving four years overseas in the South Pacific during WWII.
He was employed for over 20 years at the Watervliet Arsenal in the Benet Lab, retiring in 1985.
Jim was a resident at the Atria Shaker Assisted Nursing facility on northern Blvd. in Albany for the past 5 years, where he received excellent and thoughtful care.
Jim was a true gentleman who loved his family, his friends and his many automobiles, especially his Cadillacs.
Survivors include his children Frances (Terry) Small of Latham, Daniel (Helayne) Wright of Cohoes, Robert Wright of Cropseyville; his stepsons Chet, Ron and Thomas Delamater.
Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren 2 nieces and a nephew.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home 336 3rd St. Troy with Fr. Romeaus Cooney officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday from 3 – 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
