John G. "Jack" VanDenburgh Sr. Obituary
TROY - John G. "Jack" VanDenburgh Sr. 63, passed into eternal life suddenly Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
John was born in Ballston Spa and was the son of the late Edward J. and Anne T. Otonowski VanDenburgh Sr. and the loving husband and best friend for 44 years of Rosemary Nuttall VanDenburgh.
He was a graduate of Troy High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Russell Sage College.
John had been employed at Saint Gobain Corp., formerly Norton Co., in Watervliet, retiring after 39 years as a quality engineer.
He was a member of Norton Company's Forman Association and was on the Board of Directors of Spring Little League for many years.
John looked forward to and enjoyed his summer vacations on Cape Cod each year, but most of all he was a devoted father and grandfather. His family gave him his greatest happiness in life, especially his grandchildren.
John is also survived by his loving children, John G. (Jennifer) VanDenburgh Jr. of Niskayuna, Jeffrey K. (Christine) VanDenburgh, Tara A. (Todd) Caruso, Kathleen M. VanDenburgh, Gregory J. VanDenburgh and Jamie L. VanDenburgh, all of Troy. He was the loving grandfather of Samantha Caruso, Michael VanDenburgh, Matthew VanDenburgh, Patrick Caruso, Sarah VanDenburgh, Jack Griffeth, Luke VanDenburgh and Riley VanDenburgh.
He is also survived by his brothers, Noah E. Van Denburgh and Edward J. Van Denburgh Jr. of Troy; a sister, Tina A. Sawyer of Troy; his sisters-in-law, Ann (John) Cunningham of Niskayuna and Kathleen Nuttall of Troy; his brother-in-law, Arthur Morrissey of Glens Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for John will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013, from Bocketti Funeral Home, 336 Third St., Troy, and at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. John Yanas, pastor.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 25, at the funeral home.
Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy.
