WATERVLIET - Marion A. Wagner, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, with her family by her side at the Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs.
Born Nov. 12, 1918, in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Shannon. After residing briefly in Schenectady, her family moved to Watervliet, where she lived in the same house for more than 80 years until moving to Ballston Spa in 2002 to be closer to her son and his family. However, her heart always belonged to Watervliet. According to her, it was the only place to live.
She attended school at Sacred Heart of Mary and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School.
In addition to raising her family she also worked at Tek-Hughes Co. for 20 years, retiring in 1980.
Marion and her late husband, Joe, loved to travel and was able to visit Hawaii 22 times during their marriage, as well as several trips to Europe. She enjoyed talking of all the memories she had from these trips, especially Hawaii. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt and she will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her devoted son, Joseph J. Wagner and his wife, Pat, of Saratoga Springs; her grandsons, Jeffery (Theresa), Brian (Dena) and Michael (Jennifer), all of Saratoga Springs, and Daniel (Michele) of San Diego, Calif.; her great-grandchildren, Spencer, Mackenzie, Ethan, Justine, Emerson and Marley; one nephew, Robert (Kathy) Myers; and several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her beloved husband, Joseph Wagner, she was predeceased by her cherished daughter, Linda Wagner, and her special sister, Margie.
A funeral service to celebrate Marion's life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, at Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
Friends and relatives are invited and may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home prior to the service.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of the Wesley Health Care Center for the wonderful, compassionate care given to Marion during her stay there.
