Mark R. Laustrup Troy – Mark R. Laustrup, 61, of Lansingburgh passed into the arms of the Lord on January 5, 2014 at his residence in Lansingburgh after a courageous battle with a brain tumor. Born in Troy he was the loving son of Russell and Elinor Schlindwein Laustrup of Lansingburgh. Mr. Laustrup was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, Class of 1970,and Hudson Valley Community College and was a chief lineman for National Grid in Troy. He considered his co-workers as not only friends, but part of his family. Mark was a former member of the Van Schaick Island Country Club in Cohoes. He loved classic cars and playing golf but most of all spending time with his family ,especially his grandchildren, Kamryn and Charlie. They were the light of his life. Mark was able to confront his illness with dignity, courage and humor and is now at peace. He was an inspiration to all. Survivors in addition to his parents include his son, Jason Laustrup and his wife Lori of Rock City Falls, daughter, Sara Whitaker and her husband Edward of Lansingburgh, brother Russell Laustrup and his wife Jennifer of Troy, sisters, Donna Benson and her husband Tom of Cohoes, Nancy Laustrup of Cohoes and Sandy Bejian of Waterford, aunt Alice Ott of Wisconsin and several nieces and nephews. Mark was predeceased by his brother Robert Laustrup. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 am from Faith Lutheran Church in Speigletown. The internment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Troy. Friends are invited and may call at the Frank P. McDonald & Son Funeral Home 870 Second Ave. (124th & 125th Streets) in Lansingburgh on Wednesday from 3 to 7 pm.
