Percy Champney Obituary

Percy "Bob" Champney It is with heavy sadness that we announce the death of Percy "Bob" Champney, who passed away on May 1, 2014. "Bob", as he preferred to be known as, was born in 1931 on a farm in Bolton, Vermont to Charles and Estella Champney. He left the farm and his small town to join the United States Air Force in early 1950, where he learned a trade, served his country, and traveled the world. He settled in Tucson, Arizona in 1955 after being honorably discharged and became a lineman for Tucson Electric Power. He enjoyed those years of employment and made lifetime friends. He was a man of many trades and highly skilled at them, including being a successful small-business owner in Tucson for over 40 years. His many friends and longtime tenants at his mobile home park can attest to that. Bob also had a passion for horse racing so he became an owner/trainer later in his life. This was something that he truly loved. He raced many horses in AZ, NM, and CA, but his favorite place to run and play the ponies was always his hometown track, Rillito Race Track. Bob was a beloved dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend to many. He was a very fun, extremely intelligent, and thoughtful man with a wonderful sense of humor. We will carry on with our memories of all the good times we enjoyed with him. Rest in peace and know that you may be gone but you will never be forgotten as your spirit and wisdom will live on in all of us. Bob is survived by his daughter, Denise and her husband, Bobby; his grandson, Clayton and his wife, Cloudie and his great- granddaughters whom he lovingly referred to as his three "beautiful girls," Alex, Bella and Emma. The family asks that no flowers be sent. nstead please make a donation to your favorite charity or to the Lions Club in which Bob served proudly. A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. Please contact his daughter, Denise for details and location at 520-488-7782. Arrangements by DESERT SUNSET FUNERAL HOME.

Dear Denise & family:
What a nice obit written for your Dad. We met
thru the Silent Wheels. We lived in #21 for 5 years. He was always working to improve the park. Many times you were at his side
helping or supervising the project. Had a
twinkle in his eyes.
Just recently spoke his name to Jerry Cox a mutual friend of his.

Sorry for your loss.
