Josephine Strycharz

STRYCHARZ, Josephine Born March 5, 1921 in Woonsocket, RI and welcomed into the waiting arms of the Lord on Good Friday, April 14, 2017. Josephine moved to Tucson in 1954 and was a housekeeper for the same several families for over 40 years. She and her husband and daughter built their own home from the ground up. She then lived in that home for over 60 years. She was a charter member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, taught catechism to children, and was a lector and Eucharistic Minister. Being an exceptional cook, Josephine volunteered in the kitchen for the Golden Agers at the Drexel Heights Community Center. Her humor, generosity, and famous cheesecake will be missed by all that knew her. She was predeceased by Ted Strycharz, her husband of 56 years until his death in 1999; by her twin brother, Joseph (Pauline) and sisters, Ann (Bob) Adams and Toni (Joseph) Almeida. Survived by daughter, Barbara (Jim) Markert of Tucson; granddaughters, Donna of Coeur d'Alene, ID and Debra of Seattle, WA, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation 5:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. followed by Rosary on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S. Park Ave. Memorial Mass on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1950 W. Irvington Pl. Internment at Holy Hope Cemetery.
