George Riegert Obituary

George J. Riegert 88, son of the late George J. Sr. and Edna (Schmidt) Riegert, died peacefully Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Villa Tampico. George was born May 6, 1922 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He served in WWII as a B-25 pilot. He moved to Tucson in 1952 and worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad until his retirement in 1982. He was a founding member of Fountain of Life Lutheran Church. George is predeceased by his wife, Dorothy M. (Elam) Riegert, who died February 18, 1994. He is survived by his longtime close companion, Marlene Rosin; daughter, Sandy (Bob) Smith; two granddaughters, Shannon (Eric) Drumma and Erin (Kyle) Pond; two great-grandchildren, Shawn and Reagan Drumma and nephews, Gary Riegert and Kenneth (Betty) Bone and nieces, Linda (Carl) Kendall, Nancy Skoglund and Marsha (Bob) West and sisters-in-law, Betty (Bob) McVey and Leona Clevenger as well as nieces and nephews in Alaska and Missouri. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church, 710 S. Kolb Road, Tucson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Valparaiso University, 1100 Campus Drive South, Valparaiso, Indiana 46383, in the name of George Riegert. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.
