I want to add something: Herb Waesch was one of the 2 or 3 finest teachers at Roskruge Junior High back in the early 1950s, when he was barely out of college, as I recall. He taught art, to a large class, from his heart, and it was marvelous. He had us bring a cake of ivory soap and we carved it into what we could dream of; I made some kind of exotic temple with towers. He taught us that art was not collecting lots of stuff, but the act of imagining and creating (and then using the soap at home). That class in 7th grade was ten times better than my art class in high school; as fine as what The Drawing Studio does today. I've though of him all these 60 years since. Blessings on him and all of you great teachers in this community .

Mr. Waesch was one of the teachers who made Pueblo High School such a wonderful place for those of us who were in the first four classes. He was kind and amazingly knowledgeable about theater and drama. He taught her we could do anything! I was in touch with him the last few years, and am so glad I was able to make that contact. RIP--a life well lived.

Mr. Waesch was a great principle at Cholla. I had many good conversations with him during my years there. I remember him walking up to me to shake my hand on graduation night just before the ceremony in 74. My condolences to his family.

Herb was a wonderful Rotarian and long time member of Old Pueblo Rotary Club. He was always available to help in community service projects. He was the Club Secretary for many, many years -- and in fact, defined the job! Always friendly, always a smile or laugh and a kind word.

A kind, caring man, fair and in possession of integrity. I was privileged to attend Pueblo from 1957-1961. He is fondly remembered by all who attended Pueblo.

To Marion and Cheryl, I know how much you miss him now. To this day, when I think of my father, many time it's with a laugh or maybe hearing him razz me about some stupid thing I just did. Herb was a kind sole with a great laugh. I so much appreciate his time and expertise in bringing my father's Criss Craft model boat back to life where I can enjoy more memories of dad. Thanks Herb. God bless Marion and Cheryl.

Mr. Waesch was the student council advisor in 1960-61 when I served as the Student Body President at Pueblo High School. He provided wonderful support and advice. He was a good, caring and gentle person. Lots of encouragement, lots of encouragement!

Mr. Waesch was the Vice-principal at Pueblo High when we were named one of the "Best Slum Schools in America" by Life Magazine. And we darn sure were. My twin sister, Joyce, and I arrived at PHS in our sophomore year, having attended our Freshman year in Wyoming and then Tucson High. PHS was a breath of home. We had a fantastic faculty and administration. I was the only Senior taking four years of art, but there wasn't a course for the fourth year. I believe Mr. Waesch approved me for "independent studies," and I got to do all kinds of projects for the offices, hallway display cases, the foyer, and bulletin boards. Mr. Waesch always made sure to come by my projects and compliment me on them. I will never forget his kindness to a ranch kid in the big city. He was one in a million and positively impacted more people then he realized. Thank you for your guidance. I went into education, teaching in TUSD for 30 yrs. and served on the Marana School Board for 16 years.

Mr. Waesch was one of my very favorite teachers back in the original Pueblo days. In drama class he knew how to make us feel like we were on Broadway when we were rehearsing and performing the plays he directed. I was in touch with him in recent years, and was so glad he and his wife attended an gathering we had last year. A life well-lived.--Vicki Thornton aka Victoria Lee on FB.

Mr. Waesch was the vice-principal at Pueblo High when I began my teaching career in TUSD. After 5 years working under him, he chose 8 teachers from Pueblo to transfer with him to start the brand new school Cholla High. I happened to be one of those lucky teachers. Mr. Waesch was the best principal I have ever worked under during my 37 years of teaching. He was supportive of everything I and the other teachers attempted to do in our classes. He upheld us and knew that we were the key in providing a sound learning environment. He was a very humble, unassuming man who loved his job, his school, and his teachers. I learned much from this great man and feel that he was my mentor in both my teaching and in relating to the students. I will truly miss that he is not among us anymore, but I definitively know that he is in a far better place. I pray that God will comfort and keep his wife and daughter in His loving care.

We were at Cholla 1969-73 and remember Mr. Waesch with love and respect. He took the risk of treating students as partners in our own education, and letting the experiment work.
