Jane SCUSSEL Obituary

SCUSSEL, Jane Elinor passed away July 31, 2017 at Banner University Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona surrounded by family. Jane was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is finally pain free after several years of illness. Jane was born February 12, 1939 to Helen and Jack McGarty in Lynn, Massachusetts. The family moved to Pasadena, California in 1941 and then to Tucson, Arizona in 1951. She graduated from Tucson High School in 1956 and attended the University of Arizona where she met her husband, Frank H. Scussel. She was a flight attendant for American Airlines in 1959-1960 and then an executive secretary at the Arizona Bank until they married in 1961 and Frank went into the US Army. Their daughter, Lori, was born at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma in 1964. After Frank's military service the family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Their son, Jim, was born in Phoenix in 1967. Jane and her family moved to Palos Verdes, California in 1972 and then to Rochester, Minnesota in 1977. Jane returned to work after her children left home, first as a catering coordinator for the Kahler Hotel and then as a co-owner of a needlework shop, The Whiffletree. They moved to Somers, New York in 1989 before returning to Tucson in 1992. Jane was an active volunteer with Assistance League of Tucson for over 20 years. They were fortunate to have many good friends throughout the years and traveled extensively in all corners of the world. Jane is survived by her husband, Frank; her twin sister, Joan; her two children, Lori and Jim and five granddaughters, Madeline, Francesca, Mary Cate, Lauryn and Olivia. The family is planning a celebration of life event to be held at a later date. Tributes may be made to the Assistance League of Tucson in Jane's honor. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.

I knew Jane from Assistance League. We volunteered in different areas, but did both play in the Assistance League Marathon Bridge. She was a friendly and fun person. Always enjoyed being around her. Gail Shelby
