Richard O. BERGER

BERGER, Richard O. age 75, passed away October 22, 2017. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Elsa Berger. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on December 15, 1941, he graduated from Shaker Heights High School in Cleveland  and received both an undergraduate degree in business as well as an MBA in Finance from the University of Arizona and remained a loyal Wildcat ever since. Richard worked in corporate America for many years, mostly in Chicago. He then decided that the life of a small businessman in warm Tucson where he could wear shorts, Spooner shirts or t-shirts and flip flops or tennis shoes every day suited him much better than three-piece suits in the cold. He volunteered in many community endeavors, but his passion was youth baseball and to that end he was very active in, as well as President of, Sabino Canyon Little League for many years. He also umpired countless community college, high school and Little Leage baseball games. His great joys were mentoring his many employees throughout his years as a businessman, his personal and professional friendships, traveling, attending UofA events, and volunteering at the Maui Invitational Basketball Tournament for many years. His greatest joy was spending his summers, and later on more extended periods of time, with his family, to whom he was devoted, and with his cherished friends at the family summer cottage on Lake Michigan in Ludington, Michigan. Richard is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughters, Alyssa Berger, Lara Schrei and Blair Small (Barrett); son, Todd Grimble; brother, Don Berger and grandchildren, Emma Schrei and Wyatt Small. He will be forever loved and remembered. There are no services planned at the present time. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.
