To Mr. Lee's entire family:
I sent the AZ Daily Star article about Mr. Lee and the New Empire Food Market to my classmates from Tucson High. The market was only a block from school, so many of us knew it well. I have received replies from many members of the Class of 1965, sending condolences to you all. Mr. Lee (as we knew him) was a neighbor and a friend to all the kids in the area. Wonderful man ... wonderful market ... wonderful memories. Wishing you well.

Mr Lee was the Treasurer of the Tucson Chinese Chamber of Commerce. It was an honor to serve on the board with. He was kind and generous. When we visited the store he would showed us my Uncle was Joe Tang). I remember playing there and helping my cousin Teddy fix the empty bottles. He also was humble but strong and smart. Our condolences to his family. Steve and Sharon Lew The past President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce.

Tucson has lost a great person! Mr. Lee was always so inviting to all of us. He was truly a man among men. I am so grateful to have known him as he and his family will always hold a special place in my heart and soul. Much love to Anne, Mel, and all the family.

Mr. Lee was a great member of the Tucson community and the Ironhorse neighborhood. As a U of A student I remember running into the empire market to grab my snacks before class or practice. I did not know until my brother married Tina, that the owner was her father! I loved talking to him about fishing and boating when at family picnics and gatherings. If he was going to be there so was I because he always brought the best food! That man could Cook!! He made the best turkey I have ever had at thanksgiving.
We will miss him, his bright spirit and wonderful cooking!

I did not know your husband, father and grandfather but you have a story of your family that I hope you put in writing to hand down to future generations. Too few stories are in hard copy and are soon lost. Do not lose the memories of brave people and hard workers. It sounds like he was a man of honor and you can stand proud of having been part of his family. God bless you all.
