Cruz Y. ARVIZU

ARVIZU, Cruz Y. Cruz passed away on Thursday morning, January 12, 2017 peacefully at home. Cruz was born on May 3, 1928 in Douglas Arizona, where she spent the first 18 years of her life. She was the second of four children born to Juaquin and Juana Yanez. Cruz married Arthur Arvizu on December 28, 1946, and soon after moved to Tucson, Arizona where she lived the rest of her life. Cruz was a remarkable wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and great-grandmother. Her dedication to help support her husband in raising their six children gave her strong work ethics and sustainability to work throughout her life to accomplish their goals. Her work service as an institutional cook was spent in state and private institutions such as the elementary school systems, university campus and correctional agencies. Cruz was a formidable force to so many with a keen sense of practicality and sharp wisdom when advice was needed. She was a power of strength to so many and will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Arthur Arvizu, and her sons, Jaime and Alfred Arvizu. She is survived by her daughters, Norma Arvizu Wilcke, Gloria Arvizu Elias; sons, Arthur Arvizu Jr., and Danny (Linda) Arvizu. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary, 240 S. Stone Ave (South Chapel), Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be offered at 9:00 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2017 Saint Augustine Cathedral, 192 S Stone Ave. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery where she will be placed to rest next to her husband.
