William James HOGE

HOGE, William James 7/05/1920 - 11/07/2016 William James "Jim" Hoge was born in Ajo, AZ, graduating from Ajo High School in 1939. He attended the University of Arizona beginning in 1940; his attendance was interrupted by World War II, after which he returned and graduated in 1948. Jim served in the U.S. Army, Pacific Campaign, as an officer in a rifle company in an infantry regiment under the command of Gen. Douglas MacArthur. He was combat wounded and decorated, receiving the Purple Heart and Silver Star for gallantry in action. After graduating from the University of Arizona, Jim pursued a career in public service. He chose Federal law enforcement which included 34 years of service in the U.S. Border Patrol and Immigration and Naturalization. His years of service included assignments in Phoenix, AZ; Indio and Calexico, CA; Honolulu, HI and San Francisco, CA. Along with his wife Elma, Jim raised his family of six sons in Marin County, city of Fairfax, CA from 1957 until 1981. Upon retirement in 1981 he returned to Tucson to enjoy his retirement years in the desert. Jim is preceded in death by his wife Elma Robles Hoge and youngest son John Hoge. His surviving family includes Bill Hoge (Mona), Michael Hoge (Wendie), Matthew Hoge, Carl Hoge (Mary Glenn), Robert Hoge (Lori), ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Family and friends are welcome to attend his Service on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Most Holy Trinity Parish, located at 1300 N. Greasewood Rd., Tucson AZ 85745. The viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. service to begin at 11:00 a.m. and burial to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY.
