Patrick LAVIN Obituary

LAVIN, Patrick A. passed away February 25, 2017 after a brief illness. Born April 16, 1929 in Co. Roscommon, Ireland. Immigrated to Toronto in 1954 and married Joan Binet the same year. They relocated to Los Angeles in 1960. Patrick received a B.A. at California State University Northridge in 1972 and embarked on a 20-year career with the U.S. Department of Labor. In 1990, Pat and Joan retired to British Columbia and he published his first book, Thank You Ireland. In 1998, they relocated to Tucson where he continued to write nonfiction books on Celtic and Southwest American history. He volunteered for the Arizona Silver Hair Legislature and Tucson-Roscommon Sister Cities. Pat and Joan spent many happy retirement years sailing the high seas. He is preceded in death by parents Francis and Agnes (Callery); brothers, Damian and Laurence; and sister, Freda. He is survived by sister, Anna; wife Joan; children, Deborah, Francis and Edith; grandchildren, Margaret and Abigail; and many cousins, nephews and nieces. A Celebration of Life Service is planned for Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Santa Catalina Catholic Church, 14380 N. Oracle Rd. Memorial gifts can be made to St. Vincent de Paul of So. Arizona. Arrangements by VISTOSO FUNERAL HOME.

I am so sorry to hear about Uncle Pat. Bill texed me last night to tell me that he got Aunt Joan's letter. I will always remember his stories when I was young. Thinking about you all.
