Colin R. SPANGENBERG

SPANGENBERG, Colin R. 31, died June 3, 2017, at his home in Colorado Springs, CO. Born to Lois and Glenn Spangenberg April 5, 1986, in Tucson, AZ. Colin graduated from Mountain View High School in 2005. After high school, he joined the army and served with Scout Platoon, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 1st Infantry Division out of Ft. Riley, KS. In February 2007, 1st Battalion deployed in support of "The Surge", to Baghdad, Iraq. Colin was honorably discharged from the army in June 2009. Following the army, Colin attended ITT and earned his Associates degree in Networking. Colin was an avid sports fan, especially of the Arizona Wildcats. He was much loved by his family, friends, and brothers at arms. He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn, and his brother, SPC Nathan Spangenberg, who also served with the U.S. Army in Iraq. He is survived by his mother, Lois Spangenberg; sister, Megan (Eric) Bette; all of Colorado Springs; nieces and nephew, Riley, Peyton, Hadley, and Avery Bette; and numerous extended family and friends. Visitation will be held at Evergreen Mortuary, Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Services will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Casas Church, 10801 N. La Cholla Blvd. Interment will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery with full military honors. A fund has been set up to assist the family with funeral expenses.
