Helen Branham Obituary

BRANHAM, Helen Shay, 85, passed away on March 15, 2011. Born in Seco, Kentucky on December 20, 1925 to Brewer and Clara Goldsmith. She graduated from High School in Brooksville, Florida in 1943. She moved to Washington, DC, went to work for the Federal Government during WWII, met and married her first husband and the father of her two boys, Donald Shay in 1944. She is survived by her sons, Donald Richard and Daniel William; five grandchildren, Lori Lynn DePaul, Christine Shay, Kathleen Shay-White, Donny Shay and Amber Shay-Wegele and nine great-grandchildren. Helen was predeceased by her two husbands, Donald Shay and Donald R. Branham. Helen was an executive secretary and office manager, she was a hard worker and quite successful. She was an Eastern Star and a long standing member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Helen loved to travel, read, play bingo and enjoyed meeting people. Helen loved her pets and treated them like children. Her grandchildren will remember her empathetic ear and her sharp wit. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. A Memorial Service is planned at EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Alzheimer's Foundation.
