James D. Grimes

James D. Grimes 83, of Tucson, died March 6, 2011. Preceded in death by daughters, Twila Bernal and Crystal Hollie. Survived by son, James D. (Cathy) Grimes, Jr.; daughter, Connie Marie Pedregon, both of Tucson; sisters, Grace Kankelfitz of Cave City, AR and Ethel Newell of La Panto, AR; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dink lived in Arizona for 67 years. He worked on many of the farms from Casa Grande to Marana, clearing and farming much of the land for the first time. After leaving the farm, he moved to Tucson and became a heavy equipment operator as a member of I.B.E.W. local 769. He was a member of the Union for 50 years. In his spare time and during his retirement he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to cook and bake cakes, made salsa and canned pickles for many of his friends. He was very fond of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial Service, Friday, March 18, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile.
