I only met you twice, Vicki, however those you had to leave for now, are a shining testament to who you are. You lived your life with love, strength, faithfulness, and devotion to those you loved most. You left those loved ones with broken open hearts. Hearts that are resilient because of your magnanimous love. You gave your family the kind of health that only your unique constancy and dedication of love could offer. You left the sweetest memories of yourself, a person who loved music and singing, laughing, of one who embraced adventure, one who would not shy away from the right good fight, who would defend her own with the ferocity of a Mother's love.... a wife's love.... a sister, friend, and daughter's love. You appear to me as all about love.
"Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, [love] is not pompous, it is not inflated,
it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury,
it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth.
It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love."
1. Corinthians, chapter 13
Vicki, you filled your life with the greatest of these. And you left your beautiful and enduring legacy in the eyes of your family, to on and on, spread your own rare radiant light.
May you rest now, even as you live in the lives of your loved ones and others.
