Dear Pat,
My condolences to you and your family. Dr. Ed was the only professor at the U of A that became a friend. He helped me when I was a senior to write my resume which I used to get a job that has lasted 35 years. I always looked forward to visiting him at the Engineering Breakfast during Homecoming Weekend. I'm am fortunate the Dr. Ed was a positive influence in my life. I am glad that he is not in pain any longer and know I will see him again in the heavens.

My condolences to Ed's family and friends. Ed was my adviser at the UofA back in 1979. He helped me when I was young and needed some direction. I didn't do everything he suggested, but that was my fault. I'm glad and lucky that Ed touched my life. Look forward to seeing him again in a better place.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any mans death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.

We will all miss Ed. Our sympathy to Pat and family. I sill fondly remember sharing a meal in our Teaneck NJ home in 1989. Both Ed and Pat always kept in touch with my parents during their lifetime, and it was greatly appreciated by both my parents and my family. When I was growing up in the Bronx and during subsequent visits from faraway NJ, it was always a special treat to visit the Nowatzki household. The model airplanes, which Ed masterly constructed and painted in lifelike detail, always sparked my imagination.
Love,
The Gruchawkas

As an adviser to the Student Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers for many many years, Ed became the closest of friends to thousands of students passing through the Civil Engineering College at the University of Arizona. He was not only such a well respected Professor of Engineering but the friend, mentor and adviser to all who had the pleasure of connecting with him.
I will miss you Ed,
Randy Hamilton, P.E.
