Jane H. BUNDY

1933 - 2017

BUNDY, Jane H. 83, of Tucson, died on February 13, 2017 at Casa de Buena Vida ACH. She was born on November 9, 1933 in Pittsford, N.Y., the only child of Gerrit and Agnes (Schutt) Hill. She graduated from the University of Rochester in New York with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Jane started her career as a 1st grade school teacher in both New York and Arizona for over 15 years, having taught English as a second language in the Tucson Barrio. Jane then worked as a director of Head Start in Rillito, AZ. She then worked at Information and Referral Service for a number of years, then worked at the Pima County Public Fiduciary office as a case manager. Her final job was as a Probation Officer for the Pima County Adult Probation Department for over 10 years. Jane retired at age 62. Jane spent her retirement years volunteering for PCOA, the Community Food Bank, the Brewster Home, the University of Rochester Alumni Association, and was a lifetime member of St. Philips in the Hills Episcopal Church since 1962. Jane was a staunch Democrat, feisty, and everyone was entitled to her opinion. She was witty, smart, and knew incredible trivia on just about anything you would ask her. She enjoyed discussing any subject, and was fond of music, especially classical, opera, and musicals. Jane is survived by her daughter, Katherine (Katie) Hemingway Strumpf, son-in-law Dr. Mark Strumpf; grandsons, Dr. Zachary Strumpf, Andrew Strumpf, and Joshua Strumpf. She also leaves behind her dear friend, Cecelia Leal and childhood friend, Jonhnatha (Shotsie) Rand. We would like to thank the staff at Casa de Buena Vida for their outstanding care of Jane these last three years. A Memorial Service to honor Jane will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philips Episcopal Church, 4440 N. Campbell Ave., with luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, Jane requested that donations to the Southern Arizona Humane Society be made. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel.
