Jean Haupt Damewood

Jean Haupt Damewood passed away peacefully April 30, 2011. She is survived by her two daughters, Becky Wallace and Diane Damewood; grandson, Joshua (Luphyta) Wallace; four great-grandchildren, Nathalie, Luna, Jesus and Josue Lawrence; one brother, Robert R. Haupt, Sr.; three sisters, Betty Ruth Nappier, Joan (Alfred) Miles, Alice (Gordon) Wilburn; many nieces and nephews and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by the love of her life of 65 years, Dagwood; her parents, George and Ethel Haupt, Sr. and four brothers, Ralph, Buddy, Earl and Bill. Mom's "career" as a 30 year Air Force Officer's wife was one she cherished and loved. Her smile lit up the room and her gentle, caring heart endeared her to all who knew and loved her. Her leadership as a squadron commander's wife was admired during difficult and good times. She was a long time member of PEO Chapter BN, loved playing bridge and was on a bowling league years ago. She loved to entertain, whether it was hosting a neighborhood coffee, parties at the Officer's Club, and the Oro Valley Country Club, she was THE social butterfly. Above all else, her life revolved around her family and her faith. Family reunions gave her so much happiness. Her daughters were her pride and joy, and she was proud of their accomplishments. Grandson, Josh was the apple of her eye and most recently becoming a great-grandma completed her circle of life. Celebration of Life in Tucson will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 1431 W. Magee Rd., Tucson, AZ 85704, located on the SW corner of Magee and La Canada Roads. Dual celebration of she and Dad's life, along with burial, will be held in Roanoke, Virginia later this year.
