John N. Wagner

John N. Wagner Our beloved father, grandfather and friend, John N. Wagner went to be with the Lord on March 4, 2011. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 1, 1921. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp and served a B-17 instructor and B-29 pilot in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He also served as a squadron in the Air National Guard in Tucson, Arizona. It was through his military service that he developed his deep appreciation and love for flying that endured throughout his lifetime. He graduated with a chemistry degree from the University of Arizona and had a lifelong career with INFILCO- Degremont as a water treatment sales engineer. He met his wife, Helen (McBee) Wagner while singing in the choir at Garfield Church in Phoenix, AZ. His love of singing and music remained a constant throughout his lifetime. He married his one and only love, Helen on February 21, 1944 while serving in the Army Air Corp in Roswell, New Mexico. He lived with and loved Helen until her death in January 2007. His children, Tom Wagner and Jill (Dennis) Cady were a source of deep affection and pride for John. His relationships with the grandchildren, Lindsay (Nick) Rehm, Anya (Glenn) Woo and Joel Cady delighted him and brought him great joy and comfort especially in his last days. He was looking forward to meeting his first great-grandson to be born in July. He enjoyed all kinds of people and experiences and had many friends whose company he thrived in. He and Helen loved to travel throughout Europe. There was not a good joke or story that he did not like and would often amaze family and friends with an unlimited knowledge of trivia. There will be a Memorial Service in his honor to celebrate his life and his loves on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at New Life Bible Fellowship, 4900 W. Cortaro Farms Road, Tucson, AZ. To honor our father's deep love of Christian education, in lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Trinity International University in Deerfield, Ill.
