Dear Mrs. Meyers,

My deepest condolences to you and the family. Your dear hubby and my Dad, Bob Seiler, were golfing buddies at Skyline Country Club. Others, now gone, but never forgotten were: Harry Chambers, Don Campbell and Vic Walden. What fun they had and there was a great respect for one another as well. When I hear the term "the greatest generation", these are among those I think of.
May God wrap His comforting arms around you at this sad time.

Dear Mrs. Meyers: I want to express my sincere sympathy to you and your family on the passing of Mr. Meyers. Both my brother ( now deceased) and I were fortunate enough to have had him as our accounting professor at the U of A back in the 1959 and the early 1960s. Not only was he a great teacher, but he became a good friend of my father ( now also deceased) and Dad always spoke so highly of him and shared with him that his two boys had been students of Lou's.
He was a shining example of what College educators should be and you surely can be proud of the number of young college students who benefited from his caring, his professionalism and his mentoring. God Bless you and the family and Bless his memory!

Mr. Myers was Department Head when I became an accounting major in 1963. My first class from him was Financial Accounting, with its myriad of subject matters. His imposing figure arrived for the first class and we were all terrified. Tall, distinguished, imposing and with a short message on the first day; "We have many accounting subjects to become proficient in. I will explain them to you in detail; it is up to you to listen, study and learn. There is no reason you should not be able to learn if you attend class, listen carefully, and do your homework. If you are not ready to do your part, you will not have an easy time in this class. I will not accept anything other than a full effort from you." The above is paraphrased from memory but is essentially the message. He had high expectations of his students and one understood it and either worked hard or dropped out. More teachers today need to have Lou's resolve to expect and demand effort and performance from one's students. He was the most prepared instructor I ever had, and his classroom presentation was so clear that there really was no reason not to understand the subject. I was happy in 1987 to remember the effect of his teaching on my career and be able to participate in a small way with the establishing of the Louis A. Myers' Professorship of Accounting Chair. This endowed chair was a recognition of the positive effect Lou had on so many of his students over the years, and no one deserved it more. Thanks, Professor Myers, for the positive effect you had on so many over the years.

Professor Meyers was my accounting professor back in the early 80s. Great teacher! I enjoyed his class and learned a great deal. Even though accounting is not my favorite subject, he made it interesting (thank you). May he rest in peace.

It was so sad to see "Uncle" Lou's picture this morning. He was one of my Dad's very dearest friends and most sacred best golfing buddy. The laughs those two had on the Skyline Golf Course I'm sure scared away all the mountain lions in the area. Both Mom and Dad are gone, but they would have appreciated that I was here to tell you Mrs. Myers, what a great and funny guy you were married to! Dan Chambers, Harry & Mary's son.

My condolences on the passing of Louis Myers, Jr. He was the best teacher I had in my 16 years of schooling; always professional, always prepared and an expert on his subject. I was blessed to have him for both semesters of Intermediate Accounting, and he is the reason I passed the CPA Exam. A great loss to Eller College, the University of Arizona and Tucson.
