Dorothy Gately Obituary

Dorothy Elizabeth Gately 8/24/1916 - 5/27/2011 passed away May 27, 2011, at age of 94. She was born August 24, 1916, in Rathbun, Iowa and moved to Sacramento, CA as a child. She married the love of her life, John Gately, on June 14, 1941. They were looking forward to celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary this month. The couple moved to Tucson in 1954 with their two daughters when John became assistant manager of the Sears store. They lived in Tucson, Phoenix, Douglas, Flagstaff, Munds Park, and Sierra Vista as John became manager of Sears stores in various Arizona locations. They moved back to Tucson three years ago to be near family. Dorothy was an outstanding seamstress and talented pianist. She was passionate about cats, nearly always having one in her home. The most important thing in her life was her family, and she had a positive loving influence on all of us. She is survived by her husband, John; daughters, Kathy Gately of Tucson, and Pat Pringle (Jeb) of Benson; grandchildren, Tim Pringle (Mary Jane), Dan Pringle (Liz), and Emily Gately, and great-grandchildren, Ryan, Jessica, and Sara Pringle. A Family Celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel.
