Edward Roe Obituary

Edward Jedd Roe Jr. 9/14/1932 - 3/20/2011 After a long and valiant battle, our beloved golfing, cowboy succumbed to lung cancer on the first day of Spring. Jedd is survived by his devoted wife of twenty years, Leslie and his adoring step-children, Kristin Cashin of Menlo Park, CA,, David Cashin of Tucson, AZ and John and Kim Cashin and their nine month old son Connor of Portola Valley, Ca. He is also survived by his dear sister, Nancy of Encino, CA; his brother and sister-in-law, John Hughes and Carol Fontana of Prescott, AZ, many friends and relatives. His loyal labs, Lily and River will miss him terribly. Born in San Antonio to a pioneering family, Jedd led an adventurous life. He attended Exeter, graduated from Williams College, was a proud pilot in the USAF, had a successful career on Wall Street, developed a Marina on Tortola, BVI, and for most of his life was a dedicated, nature loving rancher. After retirement, Jedd and Leslie lived in Annapolis, Maryland for many happy years. They enjoyed an active life with many new and precious friends. They sponsored a midshipman at the Naval Academy, Matt Moberely, who became another son to them. Jedd fished, boated, enjoyed Navy football and drove Meals On Wheels for years. In 2004, Jedd gave up shoveling snow and mowing grass and they moved to Tucson. Tucson brought new friends and sunshine. Jedd loved playing golf with his family, friends and the "Wednesday Group" at TCC. He was also an avid Arizona Wildcat Basketball fan. There are no words to describe how much we will miss his love, strength, humor and genuine goodness. Sunday morning breakfast will never be the same. He will be laid to rest in San Antonio. Bob Pelrine of Annapolis, Md, his good friend, will officiate. May he rest in peace. Remembrances may be made to Mobile Meals of Tucson or the Salvation Army. Arrangements handled by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, DODGE CHAPEL.

Jedd was one of the nicest human beings I have ever met. In the tradition of Sir Thomas Moore, he was truly a "Man for all Seasons". Betsy and I fondly remember those times we spent with Jedd and Leslie in Colorado, Annapolis and of course Fall River. While he will be sorely missed by all, his spirit transcends the loss of his physical body, and he will remain a part of us. With great love. Betsy and Dave

What a handsome and cheerful photo of Jedd is presented in this Guest Book. I have not seen him since together we graduated Phillips Exeter Academy in 1951. But he was a good looking kid then and it is a treat now to see that he stayed good looking for the next 60 years or so. It will be an honor to represent his many, fond Exeter clasamates in San Antonio with Leslie and those fine stepchildren on April 16. All best regards, Ed and Virginia Mills, Austin, Texas

Leslie: Condolences to you and the family. Jedd was a great guy and a good friend. I'm sure he is golfing in heaven as we speak.

Our condolences to your family. We only met Jedd a couple of times in Tucson, but, when he walked into a room, you could sense immediately his strength of character and warm, compassionate heart. Our thoughts are with you. Rod & JoAn
