Henry McClelland Obituary

MCCLELLAND, Henry (Hank) Cabell, 90, passed away on April 15, 2011. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Henry Winn Cabell and Betty Bramble McClelland. After attending Southern Arizona School for Boys and Phillips Exeter Academy, he attended Harvard University. He then took leave from his academic pursuits to serve in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in Kunming, China, 1942 – 1945. Upon returning to civilian life, he graduated from Harvard and moved to Los Angeles where he worked as a mechanical engineer and later as an insurance agent. During that time, he renewed his acquaintance with Mary Louise Mayger whom he married in 1951. In 1956 they moved to Tucson where he continued his insurance career with the Newell & Parlett Agency until retirement. They resided in Tucson for 55 years where he followed his passions of history and exploring back roads of the West. He is survived by three children, Tom, Martha, Bill and four grandchildren, Jennifer, Deborah, Rob and Anna. A Memorial Service will be held at Grace St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 9, 2011. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Saguaro National Park.
