I miss this beautiful friend more with each passing year, but the gifts - generosity of spirit, a gathering of forever friends, the boundless joy of living - will be with me always.

I apologize for the tardiness of this message. I know Moussa shares my thoughts. Karen was one of the most incredible human beings I've ever met. Of everyone in my life, Karen was the only person I truly wished I could emulate. What an amazing life she led, filled with adventure and good deeds. She had an aura of a wise-woman soul who knew the earth's and humankind's highways and by-ways. I can imagine her now riding a glorious, native-woven carpet over the whole world. She was intelligent, kind, generous, open-hearted and beautiful. I only wish I had met her much earlier in my life so I could have learned so much more about being a good person. Her legacy is felt by so many and she will always be an inspiration.

I'm so sorry to hear this news, Karen. I did not know you well but felt a strong connection when we visited. There was something about your presence that made me feel drawn to you and I am sorry I didn't have more time to get to know you better. My heart goes out to your family. Norma Carlson

I met Karen when I joined the book club. She was fascinating! I loved how brave and adventurous she was. Her open, tolerant, and loving "being" was like breath of fresh air. I felt more alive in her presence. How fortunate I was to know her, even for a brief time.

She was my companion for countless lunches, gossip sessions, shopping trips, oldie song fests and dusty trips on Mexican backroads. Her leaving has left a big hole in my life and my heart.
