RAMIREZ, Dorothy Villagecenter Mrs. Born on October 30, 1921 at Standing Rock Sioux Reservation, died peacefully and without pain in her sleep on December 29, 2016. Mom, you so much loved your five boys, and later all your grandchildren. You and dad nourished us boys when we were little, made sure we had food, clothing and shelter, and watched us grow up to be big healthy men. One of your best moments you enjoyed was teaching Indian history at Utterback Junior High, when Jesse was there. We thank you! Mom, we admired and envied your strong, remarkable character and personality and your determination to be independent and free. To the very end you were cognicent, until you closed your eyes for the final time. You kept telling us at the end, "don't cry." We can't stop crying and mourning you. But we are happy you have no more aches and pains and and other trials. And we know you and dad are finally reunited, and you are now with your parents, sisters and brothers, including the two brothers who died so young in the wars. Mom, you are still with us, you live in us forever. We will love you forever. Survived by sons, Sam of San Bernardino, Calif.; Vincent of Avondale; James, Jesse and Billy of Tucson; adopted son, Chuck; sole surviving sibling Leonard Villagecenter of Standing Rock Sioux Reservation; Cousin and Rev. Lyle Noisy Hawk of Rapid City, S.,D., and grandchildren, Wade, Stacie, Steffanie, Joshua, Matthew, Levi and Casey. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, J.M. Ramirez; and parents, Joseph and Agnes Looking Elk Villagecenter. Visitation at EVERGREEN MORTUARY from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday January 6, 2016, with internment to immediately follow.
