David Mathias KELLERMEYER

KELLERMEYER, David Mathias Passed away on August 23, 2017 in Tucson, AZ. Born August 21, 1932 to the Rev. Hugo C. and Josephine Kellermeyer in Concord, NC, he graduated from high school in Lima, OH and Heidelberg College in Tiffin, OH. His Masters and Doctoral degrees in music education were awarded from Teachers College Columbia University. Dr. Kellermeyer was a music educator and/or music professor in OH, IN, IA, CO, and NY. He taught public school students in kindergarten through high school and college undergraduate and graduate students. His singing choirs toured the United States, Canada, and Europe. Above his teaching duties, Kellermeyer served as conductor of community choruses and Minister of Music in many churches. He performed lead roles in community musical theater in CO and upstate NY. As a prolific published composer and arranger, his music for choir, handbells, symphonic band, and strings are performed in schools, universities, and worship services across the country. David is survived by Marian, his wife of 59 years; a son, Dr. Steven Kellermeyer, and a daughter, Dr. Rebecca Kellermeyer. Also surviving are two grandchildren: Nicole and Brian. In lieu of flowers, donations in David's name may be given to any church choir, handbell choir, or public school music department of your choice. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Good Shepheard UCC, 17750 S. La Canada Road, Sahuarita, AZ on Monday, October 16, 2017, 8:00 p.m. Arrangements by ANGEL VALLEY FUNERAL HOME.
