Gus LETTAS Obituary

The family thrived in the restaurant business and decided to move to Tucson in 1947 due to the ill health of their father, Christ. In 1950, Gus and his brother, Andy decided to go out on their own and opened a bar on Miracle Mile known as Gus and Andy's. Over six decades this establishment would become a top restaurant and Jazz Club. Gus, many times could be found playing his trumpet alongside the jazz band playing that night. In earlier years, Hispanic bands packed the establishment, with the most famous being Los Elegantes. Gus is survived by his sister, Kathryn Congelli; brother, Andy Lettas; nieces, Tina (Dan) Chambers and Victoria Lettas along with many grandnieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at ANGEL VALLEY FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Trisagion service at 5:00 p.m. Private burial will follow on Thursday, February 22, 2018.
