I knew Nan as Nancy when we met in 7th grade in Canonsburg, PA. Because we sat in alphabetical order, we became very good friends during 7th and 8th grade until she left public school and went to a private school in Pittsburgh. I have loving memories of sleepovers at each other's homes talking into the night. I loved and admired Nancy for her intelligence and her incredible can-do attitude about everything she did. She was unique and I feel privileged to have known her and her family. The last time I saw Nancy was at her wedding in Heinz Chapel; I'm sorry to learn of her death today. I have never forgotten her all these years later. My heart is grieving now.

I am her cousin Lynne Wilson. I will always be thankful for the beautiful hand me downs I received from my Aunt Jane that were Nancy's. Nancy was very smart, sophisticated and accomplished. I am saddened that she passed away so young. I wish her children well and if they ever want to come back to Nancy's roots in Pennsylvania we will welcome them. Lynne Wilson Fisher

I just learned of Nan's passing. I'm her cousin Tim Wilson. She was the cousin closest to me in age, two grades ahead of me. Although I saw her in 2011 on a visit to Arizona, virtually all my memories are not of Nan, but of Nancy, my pretty, superachieving girl cousin. I remember performing at a church function when I was about 13 or 14, playing my trumpet, and she was my accompanist on the piano, the savvy veteran performer, coaching me and making me look better than I really was. Make no mistake, Nancy was an accomplished musician as a young teenager. She was driven to be the best at what she did, and she was. She was a church organist and pianist when she was a young high schooler. She was as smart, stylish, and sophisticated as anyone I knew growing up. I liked being her cousin, and being friends with her. She will always have a special place in my heart.

Wells, Adam, family and friends,
I didn't know Nan very long or well, but her strong spirit and love of animals, travel and the world in general were really quite wonderful. I feel most fortunate that our paths crossed, no matter how briefly. My heart and sympathies go out to all of you.
Love, Chris (and Lily of course)

I met Nan In 1978 and adored her. Her valor and curiosity about the world were always fascinating. She was so smart, funny, loving in her free spirited way. Tucson and all who knew her were blessed. There will never be another Nan. May you rest and entertain those in Heaven. You will always be missed!
