Doris Allyne Wells Sutherland 3/27/2014 James Grant Sutherland 10/1993 93, passed away March 27, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. 'Dottie' was born in Elfrida, AZ in 1920. The sixth of 10 children, Dottie was the last surviving member of a close-knit pioneer family. Upon graduating from Pierce High School, Dottie's siblings helped send her to Phoenix Beauty Academy. Dottie married James Grant Sutherland (pictured) in 1940, and their first child arrived while Jim was serving in WWII. Eventually raising four boys – Jim, Mike, Rob and Bill – Dottie also achieved an admired standing in Arizona's cosmetology industry, serving as president of the Arizona Cosmetology Association. Dottie embodied unconditional love and shared it liberally with her family and friends. She'll be remembered most for her inner beauty, kindness and limitless gratitude in the face of life's challenges. Dottie is survived by four sons, two daughters-in-law, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, numerous nephews and nieces and countless friends. Celebrate Dottie with us at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Casas Church, 10801 N. La Cholla Blvd. in Tucson. Arrangements by DESERT SUNSET.
