Zona June Miller

Zona June Miller age 94, passed away on May 2, 2014. Born in Phoenix on June 2, 1919, to Radius and Leara Hudson, Zona grew up on a farm in Laveen and lived most of her life the Phoenix area. She graduated from Arizona State Teachers College in Tempe in 1940, and married Lawrence "Larry" Miller in 1941. They remained together until his death in 1998. Zona was also a member of OES (Chapters No. 44 and 40) for 59 years. She was well known for her amazing abilities as a seamstress. She taught many 4-H'ers (including her daughter) her skills. Zona and Larry loved to go "antique-ing" and spent much of the 70's and 80's traveling and collecting Depression glass. Playing card games of any kind was also a favorite pastime. She left the farm in 2005 to move in with her daughter and family in Tucson. Zona is preceded in death by her parents; her husband and her brother, Radius A. Hudson. She is survived by her two children, Allan (Dee) Miller of Killeen, TX and Dale (Ken) Meyer of Tucson, AZ; three grandchildren, Patty (Lori Colwell) Miller of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Jason (Krissy) Miller of Phoenix, AZ, and Aaron Miller of Killeen, TX; five great-grandchildren, Courtney, Jake, Zack, Brody and Makenzie Miller; nieces, Janette and Bonnie Hudson and nephews, David and Rex Hudson. A Visitation will be held for Zona on Friday, May 9, 2014 at GREENWOOD MEMORY LAWN MORTUARY, 719 N. 27th Ave., Phoenix, AZ, 85009 at 1:00 p.m., with Service to follow at 2:00 p.m.
